About You
I really enjoyed this insight, which provided a great insight into the world of investment banking. Whilst the focus on the insight was on the investment division of the bank, there were plenty of other opportunities to meet people from other departments as well. Everyone that I met was very friendly and welcoming, making it a very enjoyable programme.
I was made to feel very well valued during my time at Citi Bank. This was firstly due to the small cohort, which meant that the Recruitment Team and other employees had the opportunity to really get to know us individually. Secondly, every single employee that I met was extremely welcoming and friendly, which again made me feel very well valued.
I received plenty of support and guidance on this insight week. I received an email before I joined the firm outlining the activities for the week and the Recruitment Team was always on hand to answer any questions. From day 1, Citi employees were very approachable, providing valuable advice and guidance throughout my time spent there.
The skills I developed and the information that I received will certainly help me in my degree studies and beyond that. I have developed a much better understanding of investment banking and this information will assist me in any future applications and interviews should I chose to pursue a career in this sector. Furthermore, this insight has improved my confidence levels and communication skills.
The Company
The insight programme was well structured, allowing us to get the most out of the week. We were provided with a full timetable of activities, which consisted of a good balance between work shadowing, skill sessions, networking opportunities and presentations. Furthermore, I feel that a week-long programme allowed us to gain a good insight into the bank.
There was a really great general atmosphere at Citi Bank and my fellow interns on the insight week made for really good company. We formed a close bond and at no point was it competitive or cut-throat. Citi employees helped to create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, injecting their own energy into the week at the same time.
It was clear to see just how much Citi had invested into this programme and I truly believe that this insight has allowed me to grow as an individual. The structure of the programme was focused on our personal development, which included some basic training at the beginning of the week, which concluded with work shadowing, allowing us to put into practice what we had learnt.
This insight helped me to gain a much better understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role at Citi Bank. I was able to see first hand the work that employees do on a day-to-day basis, as well as understanding more about the working hours and company culture.
Throughout the insight programme at Citi Bank, we were given a number of presentations on the company culture at Citi. Citi is heavily focused on Corporate Social Responsibility and therefore were keen to stress this. Furthermore, we were given a number of presentations on Diversity at Citi, which again is reflective of their culture.
Personally, I found the content to be very useful and I was able to gain a much better understanding of what a career in investment banking entails. Furthermore, the Recruitment Team provided us with comprehensive feedback on our performance over the week, which allowed me to assess whether my skills would be suited to this sector.
