UK&I HPE Aruba Networking Indirect Sales Support Review

I highly enjoyed my internship at Aruba a Hewlett Packard enterprise company. Everyone was so easy to get along with and supportive. I was able to get involved with so many different projects and was challenged appropriately to help me grow as a person. This made the whole experience highly enjoyable.

I felt highly valued by my Aruba and HPE colleagues> I was always thanked for my work, praised when I did good work and supported when I needed it. I was also included in the celebrations, team meetings and team drinks. It was like being part of a work family.

The support provided to me by the management team was incredible, I had regular contact with a range of managers, each able to help me develop myself. I could go to them with any worries and they would give me support and guidance to find the appropriate solution.

I had a good balance of work and was supported to learn how to priorities my work as well as how to balance my time to reach deadlines. Although like any place sometimes of the month were busier than others, I found I always had something to do. If I was quiet there were people to go to gain more work and if I was busy there was people to go to help.

The amount of responsibility I was given was directly proportionate to my ability to execute throughout the year. I feel that this was brilliant for my development and enabled me to take on new tasks and higher responsibility effectively. By Christmas I was helping to run the intern recruitment. I was planning team meetings and felt highly responsible and respected.

The skills I learnt in this year went further beyond a basic office job. I learnt to manage my time and tasks effectively which will definitely help me in both my studies and future jobs. Furthermore to this, I learnt how to effectively communicate with people from all walk of life and at all stages of their career, building myself a valuable network of people for guidance.

The atmosphere in the office was good. It was a good balance between professional and fun. We were regularly rewarded with events, such as free coffee and cake as well as a Christmas event and the summer sizzler BBQ. for large events like the world cup, the office was decorated and games shown on the TVs throughout the office. this meant that people were able to work and still keep track on sporting events they were invested in.

My placement was well organised. we had a months handover which was good for learning the role. HR wold regularly engage throughout the year with the interns. Our roles were clearly set out and this enabled you to learn your role.

A lot was invested in me throughout my placement year in both personal training and development. I had regular meetings with managers, they took the time to know me well and therefore were able to give me the guidance and support I needed to reach my full potential and grow both personally and professionally. They invested time in my development and I was able to approach them if I wanted to branch out into other areas, and they would give me guidance to allow me to do so.

The future jobs at HPE are good, they offer a wide range of graduate schemes, in sales and presales, and many intern were returning as graduates. They are developing there graduate roles.

The social scene at HPE was good, they encourage you all to get to know each other over the first few weeks and live together after. You have a intern committee which includes social sectaries, who arrange weekly or monthly socials and the intern ball. you are also encouraged to do charity work and lots of these challenges are social such as charity walks. People often go for dinner together. With regards to colleagues we had quarterly meets which included a social afterwards and team meetings often ended with drinks too.

As the office is based near a student town there is lots of student nights, student bars and student accommodation, making it very affordable. As all places if you know where and when to go out socialising then nights out can be done at low cost, as with many other activities.

As most people live in the nearby town, which has a university the nightlife is pretty good. there's a range of bars and clubs and restaurants, hosting a range of different nights in different styles. Being a university town means there is student nights and other groups of interns, making the nightlife fun and affordable

There was many opportunities to get involved with a range of activities both in and outside of work. there were regular intern socials, and intern ball and many charity work opportunities, such as palace to palace, food bank packing an charity walks. There is also a football team and circuit training.
