The Role
As my role was new it was very slow to start. However my role developed through the duration of my placement and I found this very challenging and rewarding.
I was recognised in front of the senior managers in my department for planning a Year Start event, this recognition did make me feel valued. I also acted as a source of information for my colleagues regarding certain programmes and issues which was also pleasing.
My manager was always very supportive even though he was always extremely busy. He would explain anything I was unsure of in detail if asked.
Varied greatly. At the start as my role was new it was slow and a struggle. However my role developed and I was very busy in certain months, especially December and January.
I was given a large amount of responsibility when I was planning events. Day-to-day I didn't have massive amounts of responsibility.
The work ethic I acquired will help me a great deal in the future. Planning such a large scale event will also give me confidence that I can plan and perform well in the future.
The Company
Very good, Busy but supportive.
At the start it was difficult as my manager was away. However I gave my replacement student an extensive handover and this was the same across all the IP Students.
Being involved in such a large event to the extent that I was showed the confidence my manager had in me. To plan an event in a different country and be also able to attend the event shows a lot of investment from Xerox.
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I received a very good reference and I will apply for the graduate scheme in the future.
The Culture
Very good social scene, made lots of friends. Huge amount of students are based in Uxbridge with Xerox.
Uxbridge was fairly cheap to live and go out. Central London as you would expect is expensive but a very good night out!
Uxbridge only has one club, however there are numerous nice pubs. Good nights out to be had in Central London, Windsor and Watford.
Plenty of the students did things together. Booze cruise at the start and end of your placement is a good chance to get to know everyone.
