About You
I enjoyed it very much. There was great sharing from experienced employees in the market, and this provided us with quite a good understanding of the energy industry now, and it's outlook for the future. Also, had the chance to interact with other like-minded individuals and talk to graduates to see what they thought about working at BP
I thought that I was quite valued. The events were all planned with the students attending in mind - all were structured to help us understand the oil and gas and energy industry and what BP's outlook and future plans look like. Although, the lunches could have been better! Still - not complaining because it was free.
There was a lot of high quality guidance provided by both the graduate recruitment team and the graduates who came to share to us during the insight day. There was great sharing as well, so i would highly recommend others to attend this insight day as well! I really benefitted from it
I developed my understanding of the oil and gas industry, and also managed to meet many other like-minded individuals. All this, on top of understanding how whatever I've studied in Chemical Engineering can be applied to the real world. We saw that through the simulations that was shown to us.
The Company
It was incredibly well structured. The activities were planned to give us a wide exposure to the differnt industries and opportunities open to us as students/interns working at BP. Also, there was a lot of contact time with the graduates, which allowe us to find out more about how working at BP was like
It was great. The group of people they selected were all sporting and fun to be around. Overall, that made the day thoroughly enjoyable and to top that off, we all learnt quite a bit about the oil and gas/energy industry from the graduates and senior employees of BP. This all contributed to us learning quite a lot during the day
Well, the company invested a lot of time into us, and their graduates came down to share their work and their current job progression, which allowed us a much better understanding and insight of the programs that were available for us at BP, as well as understand how it was like to work there.
They got their quite a few graduates down to talk to us - all from different fields, from upstream processing to downstream processing, and even to reservoir engineering. This provided quite a good insight to how it was like to work at BP, and where our skills could be used in the company.
There was a great talk at the start about what really distinguished BP from other oil companies - that gave us quitea bit of insight into what BP valued and how their company's culture differed from others. Also, being at a work-site, we got to see how people commuted to work every day and get a better feel for the culture
Everything Else
BP provided reimbursement for transport to and from the venue. Also, because my transportation time would have taken me more than 3 hours to get to the site, they also sponsored a night's stay at a pretty decent hotel nearby. Also, they sponsored dinner the night before. All in all, this event was very well thought through
There were many like-minded individuals who attended the event as well, and throughout the day, we had time to chat to each other and get to know each other's interests, and aspirations. This allowed us to network sufficiently and also build strong enough bonds to allow us to work together in the future.
