The Role
HP is a great company to work for as an Intern and I am really enjoying my year so far
I always get feedback from my colleagues about how well I am doing in my role, and they always say thank you even if it's a small job.
My manager is always there whenever I need help. She sits 2 desks away from me, so I know I can ask her to help when I want it.
Some days are quiet but you are happy for this rest as month ends and year ends are really busy! If you're not organised or can't deal with stress well, then this is not the job for you.
My role is very important as orders can't be processed unless they go through me first and I make sure everything is correct. Seeing as some orders are worth $7m its a big responsibility and affects to the departments profits.
I learnt how to organise my time well and get along with colleagues. I learnt alot about excel which will be important in most job roles. I also had training on presentation skills.
The Company
Its an open plan office so the mood is very relaxed. In my department I can wear jeans to work which helps with the rlaxed atmosphere.
As there are 40 or so other interns HP organises it very well. We get put into uni accommodation for the first month which helps us form friendships and decide on who we want to live with for the rest of the year. We have many intern events and started the placement with an introduction day.
I have 1:1's with my manager every month who helps me find ways to develop my skills.

I like the company but would like to try out different companies before I decide if I want to come back
The Culture
the best! Sometimes it feels like I am still at uni. We have an intern committee and social reps who organise pub crawls and nights out for us. We also try and get other company placement students involved in some of our events in Reading. We all get along really well as we were put into accommodation together.
Rent for a 5 bedroom house is around £300 pppm. Student nights are cheap. It can be expensive at the weekends but you can always find cheap drinks.
Its not as good as Birmingham as the clubs are more bar/clubs. But we always end up having a good night.
