The Role
This placement exposed me to many different therapeutic areas and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to learn lots of different techniques. There is also a strong social aspect as the company employs lots of students so you don't feel isolated.
The employees treat you as an equal and listen to your ideas. There is a nice office environment where you are able to feel welcome.
They go above and beyond with supporting you in terms of assessing your university work and giving constructive feedback when you need to do presentations.
You work a routine 9-5 job however this is flexible as long as you do the work provided. If you feel like you have extra time you are easily able to make opportunities for yourself to be exposed to new skills within the whole company.
Depending on the project, you are given your own set of work to manage and schedule to your own pace. It is your responsibility to deliver or explain any hold-ups, but you will still have the support and guidance from you supervisor so it is not solely your responsibility.
I have learnt many skills which will help me in a scientific career through-out my life. It is a lot more in-depth laboratory work than previously exposed to at university, making this an attractive year to place on your CV
