About You
10/10.
Very - I was given the opportunity to work on real deals, and made to feel like a real asset to the team.
I was given the same support as a regular trainee at the firm, which greatly helped my insight into life at a commercial law firm.
Having real world experience, over and above a typical internship, has much better prepared me for the next stage of my career.
The Company
The Internship was structured in a way so as to provide the most variety in a relatively short amount of time.
Everyone was very welcoming and it was a great atmosphere in which to spend 3 weeks.
They provided us with all the resources and tools of the firm, which really encouraged our own learning and develpment.
The exposure and level of work provided is not too disimlar to that of a real trainee, so when given a task you know that the work is for a real client.
We were priviledged to have talks from all the differnet practice groups at DLA, meaning we had the opporuinty to see and appreciate how each cog in this legal machine fits toegther. This really puts into context how the firms culture and vision work in tandem with their business model.
The variety of work provided was substantial, often having multiple tasks on at once, but each task was similar to that of a real trainee. This means that the work you will do on the internship is for real clients on real deals, which means you will truly get a feel for working in a commercial law firm.
Everything Else
Each Intern was paid for their time, and the pay in the regional was very attractive as well.
We had a variety of events on throughtout the three weeks. Ranging from drinks evenings with people at different levels within the firm to a full blown Summer party. There was certainly a healthy mix of events and time to enjoy life at the firm.
I would recmmened the Internship to anyone considering a career in law. Everyone at the firm is very welcoming, and will make the effort to see that you get the fullest experience possible.
