About You
The insight was really fun and there was nearly always a lot of work and activities to get involved with. There was one time when less work was available and I had to read a file, which is the only reason I haven't given a score of 10.
Everyone is incredibly friendly at DLA and made me part of the team from day one. I felt like I was given useful work to do.
I had all the guidance/support I needed. I could ask any question I needed and would get a lot of helpful advice.
I feel like I've learnt more about company law this week than I have in my degree up until this point! And I feel like I will remember what I've learnt because I learnt it in a practical setting (the workplace) in relation to actual cases, rather than just reading a textbook.
The Company
Very well structured - one week in London followed by two weeks in the regional office (a week each in two departments). The week in London was definitely very fun and interesting, but I think it would have been better placed at the start of the training contract for those who are successful. I think having the London week in the internship could cause people who are ultimately unsuccessful to feel more upset when they are unsuccessful because they could grow to like the firm more and see themselves working there during the London week.
Great - very friendly and supportive.
I think the support and guidance the firm gave me was sufficient training and development during the short time I was at the firm. It would have been hard for them to do anything else (like skills sessions for the various practise areas, for example) during the short time frame.
I think I've got a good understanding of the more basic tasks of a trainee, but I think a bit more could have been done to make us aware of the daily tasks of trainees and associates.
It was very clear that the firm is fun and friendly.
I know if I like the two practise areas I've worked in, but I think I need to personally experience more practise areas to fully understand my future career path. Perhaps 2 days in each practise area would be more suitable.
Everything Else
Very good pay
Lots of networking opportunities.
Very fun and friendly, although I was sometimes a bit tired at them after a long day in the office.
I found out about a few activities, but I'm not sure if there are more. A full list of all activities would've been good.
Definitely - it was a fun, interesting experience.
