About You
I had a really enjoyable and enriching experience at DLA Piper. I feel lucky that I was part of it and at every stage I was impressed by the level of respect I was treated with, with the charisma of the existing employees and the focus on developing and nourishing people.
I was treated with so much respect throughout my time on the internship. Every member of graduate recruitment knew my name, as well as everyone else's. The level of human connection and effort that is made is impressive and extremely important. From finding out the income of my AC almost instantly to finding out the income of my TC application on the final day of placement, at every stage I was treated with respect and made feel valued.
I was working within small teams and had a line manager in each of my departments. The office I was placed in was open plan and everyone regardless of position within the firm was friendly. The relationship that you have the opportunity to develop with the trainees is extremely valuable as I found a great deal of support in them.
I have learned important skills on how to carry myself in an office environment, built foundations on how to apply my legal education in practice as well as how to do adminstrative/secretarial tasks that I would not have known how to do otherwise. It was good preparation for my future.
The Company
It was very well structured, particularly the first week in London. Every detail was considered and executed to precision. It was less structured during the two weeks at the regional office, however, I did not view this as a negative as it reflected real life and enabled me to relax and focus on the work.
Graduate recruitment are obviously very good at selecting candidates. At no point did I feel out of place or not good enough. Everyone I came into contact with was respectful and kind. The personalities of the candidates helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and it added to my experience.
