    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great insight into a finance team, working with the financial statement tasks for the EU HQ.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team were really fun and friendly, who were happy to help with any problem which I faced along the way.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We had monthly meetings to discuss goals and development opportunities for the month ahead which was really useful for both soft and hard skills.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Statement period was the first 6 days of the month and these were super busy and varied. The remaining time was a lot quieter, however I picked up lots of side projects to fill this free time.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The internship was not at all stereotypical, and the responsibility was of the same level of the people in the team who were ACCA or CIMA qualified.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My concentration, time management and focus have increased massively, and the financial accounting knowledge will help with studies next year.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The team were fun and lively, unlike a stereotypical accounts team!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship is annual, therefore many of my tasks were taken on from the intern previous to me so the structure was already set in place.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Skill development was a priority and had the opportunity to sit with other departments which I have an interest in too.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They do not offer graduate schemes in the headquarters, therefore it would require starting from the bottom once university has finished.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Occasional pub visits on a friday evening, team lunches every few months.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office is based in Surrey so cost of living is quite high. Rent was a lot more than where I am from so bear this in mind when applying.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Egham is very quiet, the nearest nightlife would be in Windsor which is super expensive.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I did many side projects such as getting involved in the Wellness Committee at work which run activities for mental health, nutritional health and physical too.

    3/5
