The Role
I very much did enjoy my placement year at faurecia fradley interior systems aka SAI automotive, as i was exposed to high level industry standards relevant to my degree and chosen field of work, i was also given the opportunity to manage projects and have professional training on project management systems.
I always felt very valued and respected by my colleagues in not just my department but across all the departments at my site and also with my respected department at different sites worldwide. The student induction event was a great way to meet fellow student and be introduced into the company.
My management were always happy to provide me with good and honest feedback to greatly enhance my abilities and technical knowledge throughout the year. he was always calm and patient with a great deal of understanding. My other senior colleagues were also always available for advice and ready to help whenever.
During my time here there were a lot of projects being undertaken with which my department was involved, as a result i was very busy on a daily basis as i had to strive to complete my daily tasks and also participate in the work of multiple projects all at once.
Once i had showcased my abilities and had passed my trial period i was given many responsibilities throughout the plant these were not limited to but included the testing and maintenance of the spare IT stock, testing of network points on production lines and the implementation of projects critical to IT.
My placement helped me to develop my personal skills such as time management and leadership as well as my technical knowledge such as how network is used in an industrial environment. i was able to appreciate the differences of the theory we are taught in university and it application in industry.
The Company
very good as the office had 2 departments which were always communicating in a good and light heated manner and sharing jokes with each other. it was a calm and peaceful place to work where you could focus on completing work to a high standard but also enjoy yourself very much
wasnt very good at the start as there was little time for a handover due to the fact that we had to do a shopfloor experience for one week and we also had to go on a student induction session which was fun but limited exposure to role knowledge which set me back a bit
the company invested in me by sending me on project management training so i knew how to manage projects i was given and also training such as LANDesk training which is vital to the role and also a useful tool for the IT industry as it is used by many companies
there is a graduate scheme and international work scheme which last for 2 years and 18 months varying on country respectively. for the graduate scheme you go to university and are trained for a masters in leadership which is done over the 2 years. also for the international scheme as faurecia is a worldwide company there are many countries to choose from
The Culture
yes we played football and met up outside of work occasionally
i commuted from my home so cost of living is irrelevant but there wasn't much for socializing
none existent as the company is based in an industrial park
mostly self arranged by the graduates and students of the site
