ME student Review

At first my placement started of slowly as I had to learn all the different aspects of the job, but as I learnt I felt like I was given more and more responsibility by my colleagues. I enjoyed the various projects I was given towards the end of my placement.

I felt like I was part of the team working for my department, I did feel valued and felt like I could rely on them If I ever needed help. The atmosphere in the ME office is great and really felt part of a team. The average age is the office is under 30

I had two managers working for Faurecia as one of them left half way through my placement. I felt valued by both but feel like I have received more trust from my current manager who has handed me over with important tasks and I feel like I am treated equally than my permanent colleagues.

On a daily basis my schedule varied as I was mostly involvement with projects and it could be a waiting game while waiting for delivery's. I used my spare time to focus on my university work and completed my placement report. If I needed a job I would always ask my manager who was always happy to help.

At the end of my placement I was given responsibility's that a full time employee would have. I dealt with having contractors come in on site when needing to carry out a service or a repair and ensure all the insurance papers, RA, Method statement and also dealing with FES.

I did receive some training from Faurecia such as Hoshin, MTM, sap but not as much training as I would have liked. I would have liked to visit other plants to see other projects going on as I feel this would have helped me decide where I would want to work in the future.

The general atmosphere in the office is great and I have made a good group of friends working in Faurecia. Not only are my colleagues good to work with but I also got on with the other placement students in the plant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the office.

I felt like the organization could have been improved, Especially when arriving for my first interview in banbury as the plant expects you to call a phone number but you don't know who your point of contact is so it can be a bit daunting. I feel like however my placement has been a success and I am glad that I was able to complete it.

The company let me take part in some of the training schemes that occurred in the plant such as hoshin, MTM and SAP but did not send me to any other training programs outside of Banbury. I did get sent to a few robotics fairs which were interesting and it helped my get a few details for future employment .

The Future employment schemes faurecia offers are interesting such as the UK graduate scheme which offers you a Matters in management at Coventry university. They also offer a VIE scheme which will give you the opportunity to work aboard for 12-24 months abroad which also interest me. I will be applying for a role within faurecia in the future.
