  • to a great extent. There are much opportunities to learn, with sufficient and a variety of support including e-learning, coding graduate club, workshops and so on. • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The colleagues are very supportive and understanding. They would recommend learning materials as well as eager to offer help whenever needed. It is great to feel trusted and be treated as a part of the team, where you are given real responsibilities and work to complete. The feedbacks from my colleagues are also helped a lot in improving my work quality throughout the internship.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance from my line manager is in good balance, while she will give me room to explore and self learn, she will also be there to offer a hand whenever I am stuck with something. She also gives advices on materials available to help in order to learn the required knowledge.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is a constant workload, but not too much to handle. Although it is not very busy, the team always welcome extra help and I am able to use any capacity I have to offer them support.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility are average, where I am mostly given supportive tasks of a project instead of really leading the task. However, there are also analysis where I was given responsibility to with help of other analysts, which plays an important role in helping to achieve the goal of the team. I am also always involved in team meetings of different levels, in which my opinions and suggestions are heard.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There are a lot of technical stuff that I learnt, especially regarding Excel and PowerPoint, as well as analysing large amount of data, working in collaboration with different people, and reorganising given data. These are very useful skills which I believe will help me in my future studies and work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere is a serious working office, where everyone focused on work. However, the people are friendly and happy to help each other out. So, even though it is a serious working environment, it is not suffocating and generally is a comfortable productive space.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There is a good structure of the internship, which involves CSR challenge, assessments and so on. However, there are some places that are not so well coordinated, such as induction to office work and introducing the CSR challenge. Information are tend to be incomplete in the early stages, where usually further details will be informed much closer to the event date.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are a great extent of learning resources available, but they are for every employee to access. Therefore, the personal training and development are based on self motivation instead of company investment.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are plenty of social events held to create chances for both interns and graduates to meet. The induction is also organised in such a way to encourage networking among the interns. Therefore, there is a very good social scene amongst the interns and graduates.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is very high during the duration of the internship, as it is in Edinburgh and is during the time where the Fringe festival will be held. Therefore, the competition for accommodation with tourists are very fierce. The RBS headquarters is secluded from other places, so there is few socialising area around it.
