Summer Intern - CPB Review

The internship is very insightful and enjoyable. I got to meet a lot of people from lots of different departments and spent time with them. They all were very welcoming and gave me great insights in their field. Furthermore, I got to do purposeful work and felt valued by my team.

I really got the feeling to be part of my team. They included me everywhere, from team trainings to meetings and took me on business trips with them. They gave me purposeful work instead of giving me stupid tasks like catching coffee. Furthermore, they were really caring and supported me where they could

My manager and also my temporary manger during the time when my line manager was on annual leave supported me where they could. They got in contact to me on a regular basis to check if everything is fine and ensured that I got the needed support and skills to do my tasks

On average, I was quite busy but was still able to stick to the normal working hours of 9-5. At some days, I was really working hard and fast to complete all my tasks and duties. whereas, on other days it was a bit more relaxed, but I could use that time to shadow people from other departments

My team put a lot of responsibility on me and relied on me. That gave me really the feeling to be part of the team and doing purposeful things. They gave me important tasks which if they would have been uncompleted would have affected the whole team. thereby, you can see that they trust on you.

I learned a lot new skills which will definitely boost my skillset and will help me to process in my later career. Especially, skills like soft skills and admin skills, which both of them you do not learn at university, will help me a lot to stand out from other people.

The atmosphere was brilliant. I was based in the head quarters in Gogarburn. you could really feel that there is a modern vibe going through the organization. The atmosphere in the Glasgow office was a bit more office like but still very welcoming. Overall I can say RBS really improved for the better

After having initial issues with the it systems, it all worked out perfectly and I got really the feeling that they have a clear plan of what I am supposed to do and what different parts my internship should cover. they had a clear defined process including a personal project and a csr challenge.

They really invested a lot of time and money into my personal development. The induction was three day long with speakers from all parts of the bank as well as external coaches. Furthermore, I signed up for personal development programmes within the bank during the internship which improved my skills a lot.

Personally, I would love to work for RBS in the future. They are a great company which is on a rising tide. They have very welcoming atmosphere and hype and provide a lot of benefits for their employees and a competitive pay. So you really get the feeling that they care about their employees.

The social scene between the interns was great. We were over 70 interns in Edinburgh alone, that was great for meeting up for social events and also doing things on the weekend. I can actually say that it was very easy to make friends here at RBS. They are great people here.

I was based in Edinburgh. That means that the rent was obviously a wee bit more expensive than somewhere else. but apart from that it was fine. You will find out where to go to get decent prices etc. also one needs to see the value you get for your money. Edinburgh is such a beautiful place, it is really worth paying a bit more to be there.

You really had a huge variety of choices to go to. You will find something for every taste and price level. There were big and small clubs, with all different styles of music. You also had a great choice of pubs to go to grab a pint and meet up with people
