The Role
The placement was well structured and I had a great exposure to commercial aircraft engine systems. The learning opportunities are vast.
Good team spirit. Shop floor and engineering teams appreciated the work I did.
Mentors and internship curriculum are supportive and provide good guidance on how to complete the internship curriculum.
Daily role-based tasks took up a majority of my time. On the side, I got involved in several projects to try making a long-term impact.
One of the few engineers representing my department. Working close with other teams on site.
Very valuable soft skills and technical skills which will help me a great deal in my future jobs and degree.
The Company
Friendly and conducive to growth.
Well-defined curriculum. Allows interns to get the best out of their internship.
Personal development is focussed on at GE Wales. Mentors and co-workers strive to ensure that.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Healthcare/Dental
Appealing graduate programmes in place. Some allowing rotation between sites.
The Culture
Very social group of interns in my year. Cardiff and South Wales is a great place to do adventurous activities.
Affordable living possible.
Cardiff nightlife is alright. Bristol might be a better location.
GE offers plenty of opportunities to get involved outside of work. Sports, Maths mentoring etc.
