Finance Assistance Review

I really enjoyed my time at Golfbreaks. My work was valued and I could see the importance of the tasks I was given to complete. There were lots of activities put on by the company to get involved with to help with the work life balance which were a great addition to the year

My work was valued the same as full time employees. I could see the impact on the company accounts and with regular feedback being given. Praise was given when a job was done well as well as constructive criticism when it could have been improved. The feeling of being valued was very important to me.

My manager and supervisor were always on hand if I have any questions. The level of support was brilliant which really helped with my development. If additional guidance was needed I was never afraid to ask for more help. This level of support was really important so I could get the most out of my year.

My workload varied on the season and accounting year which meant some days were busier than others. Jobs were always available and there was always a chance to expand my role as the year went on. The amount of work allowed me to develop my time management skills using the tools available on Outlook.

The responsibility given increased as the placement went on as trust was built between myself and my colleague. I felt like the tasks I was given allowed me to take ownership of my work and see a direct impact on the business. My work had real consequences which was a very important art of my placement being successful

The work I did was very specific to the individual business for the most part but the use of key software and widening my knowledge of how this specific industry worked was very important. Not all parts would assist my degree but the parts that it does with prove very important.

With the contact centre being integrated into the office there was always the sense that things were busy. Lots of calls coming in from clients that we knew would eventually feedback to us in terms of workload. Everyone was very friendly and approachable making the office a nice place to be.

The planning of the placement was very good from application through to the end of the placement. The company takes on 15+ placements in various areas so they are well practised on how to make the year enjoyable. The HR team were always available if anything was needed inside or outside of work.

There was lots of time put in to our training with a 2 week period with the previous students to get up to speed and additional training throughout the year. Whether it be office equipment, software licences or additional training sessions the company provides lots of tools so your year can be successful.

Most of the placements live together during the year which helps the social scene. There would be regular nights out and trips that placements went on outside of work whether it be to theme parks or golf courses. The strong social scene helped with the early stages of not knowing many full time staff.

The cost of living in Windsor is higher than average with rent really affecting the cost of living. The supermarkets available in Windsor are higher end so getting shopping delivered would be recommended. Socialising was equally expensive due to the area. The quality of service was very high but not high enough to justify some prices.

The Nightlife was very good with London easily accessible by train and there being lots of bars and pubs in and around Windsor. There was a variety of places to go depending on your interests. As you would expect the prices were not cheap as there is not a university in Windsor

There were lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work whether it be company football teams, running club or socials. Windsor has alot of local sports teams that are available to join whether it be football, cricket, tennis etc. Obviously there are lots of Golf courses in the area as well.
