  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. The projects i had the opportunity to work on were often cross functional and as such i got the opportunity to work with colleagues from different teams and departments. Whilst on the projects i was treated like every other team member and was help accountable for the work i produced.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Within the first month my manager provided me with a 90 day work plan to provide structure for projects i would be working on and responsibilities. I also received support by the HR team for training i would receive throughout my placement and these training sessions provided further support as the trainers were external and had wide experience from other companies.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As within every corporate job there are peaks and troughs throughout the working month. I had a lot of month end responsibilities whilst on my placement and so the last two weeks were often critical and busy to deliver the reports and meetings for that month. For the most part however there was always work to be getting on with on a day to day basis.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Cummins has quite a corporate culture but the office is very open plan. The employees are all friendly and welcoming from management though to the cleaners. As the company is an engineering company the atmosphere is often quiet and focussed as the teams are deep within their technical work and drawings.
