The Role
I thought the placement was great. It was a great introduction to working in a fast paced corporate environment with plenty of challenging opportunities. The staff were all very helpful and I was able to mold my own niche in the team and develop lots of different skills over the course of the year.
I would say I was highly valued by my colleagues. Everyone was very helpful and there was always someone I could turn to if I was having trouble. I became a very important part of the team very quickly with people often turning to me for help and visa versa.
I was given lots of support at the start of my placement but quite quickly I was left to my own devices. There were plenty of people willing to help me if i needed it however I was not hand held and you learn to be self sufficient very quickly.
The nature of my job meant that I would have some days with not a lot going on and some days with everything happening at once. This was just because one of my main tasks involved organizing an event at the end of each month, so was the task was running my work load dipped significantly until I had to prepare for the next month.
I was given a fairly large amount of responsibility. I regularly had people turning to me for help with certain systems and I was the main organizer of a key project. I worked fairly independently of my boss and was very much left to my own devices and needed to make calls for myself.
I would say a lot of the skills I have learnt I will use in later on. However I think a lot of the value came from the skills i already had but have developed further. Things like my organization and logistic skills have greatly improved as well as several others and they will be very useful to me at university and in later life.
The Company
All of the staff are friendly and get along. I am not going to over sell it as "Fun Never Stopped" but I had a few laughs while working but ultimately people would be getting on with their job. I would say a great atmosphere for someone to get their work done but have some fun if they wanted.
I would say that it was pretty good. It took a bit of time to get going at the start as my boss did not want to throw too much at me at once and some of my tasks could have been introduced more smoothly but overall I think the organization was pretty good.
I was able to visit several several different Samsung stores in my time there as well as take place in lots of different forms of training. There was a lot of training i could have taken advantage of which i did not as i did not feel it would be right for me, however i think that the opportunities that were there showed a huge investment.

Being such a huge company the opportunities and prospects withing the company are practically endless. I would be able to try for a different position as a graduate if i wanted, or possibly move to teams within the department let alone all of the connection I have made with third parties.
The Culture
I would say there was for sure. I can not rate this fully though as i admittedly did not take full advantage of this due to the fact that i lived at home so was seeing old friends. From the few events and parties i did go to there was a great social scene.
Again living at home i did not really have to deal with these things but from what i hear the living cost was quite high as the company is based quite close to London. Socializing was quite expensive with pub prices being the same as London, so at least 4.50/5 pounds a pint.
A very easy commute into London for most so has everything you could want. Most people would get the train straight from work, a shuttle bus would run from the office to the station then a train would run from that station straight to Waterloo station, in the center of London
Nothing particularly special but the standard smattering of social sports clubs, running football etc. Any other opportunities would have to be self made, organised by the placements, which people did do with regular pub meets etc. People went to Ascot together as well as doing group holidays as well. a
