The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship and I learnt a huge amount in such a short space of time. I met so many new friends and I was also able to learn from people who had been in the banking industry for a long period of time. I absolutely loved it.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. I was able to reach out to them and ask as many questions as I needed. Don't be afraid to reach out to your colleagues both junior and senior, because they are always more than happy to help you and answer any questions that you might have.
I was given a lot of support and guidance. I was able to reach out to them and ask as many questions as I needed. Don't be afraid to reach out to your colleagues both junior and senior, because they are always more than happy to help you and answer any questions that you might have.
I was very busy on a daily basis. It would often vary due to time of day and time of the month. I very much enjoyed it when it was busy. It did mean that you had to time carefully when you were going to speak to certain people because they were very busy.
I was given responsibilities right from the start. I had a morning call to write up which covered the morning markets. This was then sent out to the world wide teams. I also presented my work to directors on new UK financial regulations which were incoming for the next year.
I learnt a huge amount from the internship. I came in with very little financial knowledge and I have learnt so much in such a short space of time. I loved the trading week at the start and the online courses where I learnt a huge amount. I always I was able to ask any questions I needed.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was very busy at certain times. It can be quite loud and fasted paced with a lot of people on the phones. It was easy to get involved with people because there was always projects going on. I was able to feel engaged in the team from the start.
The overall work placement was very well organised. It was very well set up with weekly talks which were very interesting. I think there were also enough opportunities to network within the intern class. There were also opportunities to meeting other industries within the bank which I think Is very important.
I feel like I learnt a huge amount from this internship. Both from the online training and from the workshops - I was always able to ask as many questions as I wanted. The firm always had me in mind and I always knew where I could reach out to next if I need further support and guidance.

Very appealing, although I think it does depend on which desk you are going into. I can't comment on every particular desk in the bank.
The Culture
Yes a good social scene - my desk was very friendly and I got on well with them. I think it is definitely very important to get on well with your desk - it just makes your time at work so much better. Also within other students - it was a fun group
The cost of living was pretty expensive in my area. Luckily I shared a flat with some friends but if you were international I can imagine it being difficult to find a place. Citi does reach out and give you the best information about where to find accommodation for your summer internship.
The nightlife was good, very easy to get into central London.
It was difficult with work hours being that it could vary quite a lot when you would leave the office. I think the weekends were always the best opportunity to get involved outside of work. The park outside the building was very nice after work on Fridays with a lot of interns around.
