The Role
It was very well organised with an excellent training session held at a separate venue, which gave us the opportunity to get to know other students during the internship.
The team I was allocated had a good balance of senior staff and new joiners, which enabled me to learn a whole range of different skill sets.
Anything that I was unsure on was dealt with by my line manager, or by new joiners to the firm. This made it a very encouraging environment to work and develop in.
Some days were busier than others, but there generally was a very good balance.
I was assigned graduate-level work from the start so I really felt like a valued member of the team, and the tasks were always varied to make sure that you always learn something new.
It will make sure that I manage my workload effectively and to receive feedback from others so that I know that I am progressing well.
The Company
It was a very pleasant atmosphere with very talented colleagues who were always willing to help and share their experiences.
There were some technical issues at the beginning, but overall it was very well organised.
We were given an intense training course on the principles of accounting and on using our laptops which prepared us well for the rest of the internship. We were also assigned a buddy and people manager which really helped us to settle in.
The recruiting process is very fair and you are given the opportunity to prove that you are an ideal fit for the firm.
The Culture
As the office is based in London Bridge, there was always a good social scene, and the group project and training session at the start meant that we got to know colleagues from different lines of service.
The cost of living is expensive, but I was able to commute from home which saved money. Again, as it is London it is expected to be expensive.
As there are many other offices in the area, the nightlife is good as there are many people around at the same time.
I feel that social events could have been organised during the internship, but we were able to organise things ourselves which gave us more flexibility.
