The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working at The Walt Disney Company, it provides students with the valuable skills that they can transfer into both their studies and their career in the future. During the placement there are plenty of opportunities that were available to me because I was able to shadow other departments & get to involve myself in the volunteering scheme.
My team were great to work with, they provided me with a lot of support and guidance and made me feel welcomed into the team. As well as this, my team were always encouraging me to try new things and get involved with new activities as this would improve my existing skills and learn new ones.
The support I got from my managers was fantastic! I always felt comfortable to talk to them and I was able to express any concerns without feeling scared or worried. They were always there providing me with advice and guidance whenever I needed it and I believe that's what made me really enjoy my role.
Some days were fairly quiet and other days were extremely busy, this was a perfect balance because during the quiet periods I was able to catch up on some background work. Also, I was able to help out my wider team when they needed the extra support, which was a great opportunity for me.
I had a lot of responsibilities during my placement because I was working on multiple projects and deals at the same time and my managers were comfortable to let me handle these because they were confident that I had the right skills to do the task and manage it myself.
The skills I have developed will assist me in the future career and studies because it has taught me how to use my existing skills in the world of work and I have improved on my skills which I could use in the future, for instance communication, team work & much more.
The Company
The atomosphere around the workplace was amazing because everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly this made the experience of working here wonderful because I didn't feel excluded or left out and made the process of my placement extremely smooth. As well as this, everyone were open to speak to me and get to know me.
The placement process was very simple and straightforward. Everything from the start was explained very thoroughly and it was very organised. This made me feel very comfortable in coming to work because I knew what to expect and what I would be doing in the entire duration of the placement.
The team really invested into my training because they set up access for me into the new systems, they provided hands-on training by sitting with me and going through the project. I was able to sit with them and ask any questions that I had & they were always available to speak to.

Working from home
The only downside is that there are no graduate schemes available, however, I believe that if I apply through the regular means I have the ability to re-join the company and it's great to know that I have the chance to work again for such an amazing company and makes me want to come back in the future.
The Culture
There were a lot of placement students based around the office which made networking with them a lot easier. This also made the process easier to manage because I had students who I could speak to about university and they were on the same boat as I was so I could relate to it.
I comuted from home to work, so the travel costs was not too bad. Socialising was a little bit expensive as it was in London and things are not that cheap, however, food and drinks weren't too bad because of the Disney discount we received around Broadway and other places closeby.
I personally have no idea about the nightlife because I wasn't really involved in any of these activities.
There were a lot of opportunities available outside of work. Some of the activities that I got involved in were mainly through the volunteering scheme that Disney have and this was a great way for everyone to network and get to know people from all across the office. I enjoyed the activities a lot.
