    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight and found that I learned a lot in a short space of time, it has shown me that a hands on experience in a work place teaches you much more than what you learn by reading / asking about it. Everyone I worked with was helpful and friendly, which made it far more enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I had a number of contacts who I could go to with any enquiry and were always happy to help. Additionally, everyone was more than willing to explain things I didn't understand which really helped with my development. The mid term appraisal also showed support from the London office and I found it was beneficial to speak to someone heavily involved in the programme.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that a lot of information I received will prove very valuable in my degree studies and feel like I have a head start for applying for / starting my masters, having not studied property before. I learned about the ins and outs of valuation which I expect will be very useful in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I found that the insight was very well structured an I liked that I got to experience a number of different teams for a week at a time. I think this is a good way to structure the programme as it allows students to see what each team does and what it would be like to work within them. My work load did differ quite a lot between the departments.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • 4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Each department I worked in spent some time going over what they do and what the job consists of, and a number of other departments that I didn't work in offered me an overview of their department. The graduate students were each happy to spend time with me explaining what their jobs, as well as their university courses, etc.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The lay out of the office as being open plan allowed insight into what each individual and department were doing. This meant I was able to see how busy people were and gave insight into the kind of workload I could expect. Additionally, speaking to people from each department about what their day to day job consists of also allowed insight into what a full time role would be like.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Although I am still unsure exactly which path I wish to take, I learned a lot about what each path entails and got to experience what it would be like to work in different areas. The experience has allowed me insight into the industry as a whole and has cemented that this is the area I want to work in.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I met and spoke to quite a few people in the office, although there are a number of people I have not met. I believe that the timing of summer holidays played into not getting to meet some people as they were off / preparing for their time off. However, I did get the opportunity to meet lots of people from a number of different teams

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking / social event opportunities within the office were limited as I was the only intern in the office at this time. However, I did attend a couple of external networking events with one of the graduates which allowed me to see what these kind of events are like, and the events I can expect to attend after graduating.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. I found that it was a very enjoyable and valuable experience in which I learned a lot about the industry and working for Savills. I find it especially beneficial to those studying a non-cognate degree who wish to experience if the industry is right for them.
