Summer Scheme Student Review

I have really enjoyed insight at Savills. Prior to beginning my placement I was honestly undecided on whether I wanted to pursue a career in property at all, following my first two years studying Real Estate. However, the people at my office and the insight that has been provided to me by various departments has convinced me that I do want to pursue a career in property and I especially want to pursue a career within Savills, preferably at the Leeds office.

I felt really valued during my time at the company. My team especially, provided me with work to carry out that contributed to actual property management business for the company. People from various departments were also very quick to offer any guidance I required as well as inviting me to numerous social events which felt great to be so often included in.

The support and guidance I received during my insight was great, especially as everyone within the office, regardless of department, was open to answering any questions I had. My team were also very supportive in helping me amend and improve my work and teaching me various skills that I can now put into practice in my future work.

Skills I have developed I believe will definitely assist me in my degree studies. One of my modules is Property Asset Management and I believe my lease summary skills that I have developed during my placement will especially help with this module. The social and communication skills that I have developed and grown confidence in during my time at the company will benefit me hugely going into any future professional endeavours.

A lot of property management work involves dealing with new issues on a day-to day, hour-to-hour basis and therefore I believe that it is difficult to create a significant amount of structure during a placement within this team. That being said my team constantly provided me with a variety of work to keep me busy which I enjoyed and they also helped me to achieve all of the goals that I set out at the beginning of my placement, so in that sense the work structure was great.

The atmosphere was great. Everyone within the office got along great and all communication was done in fun and friendly yet professional manner that I believe help to create very productive results. I believe that everyone within the office is under the belief that they must work hard but also have fun while they do it and enjoy the work they are doing which I believe creates a very positive atmosphere to work within.
