About You
Incredibly insightful, met some interesting people and had the opportunity to visit some impressive buildings and developments. The office environment was extremely accommodating and easy to work in and my team were very inclusive.
From the first day, I was given real responsibility and treated like a full time member of the team. I personally participates in all the tasks that other members of the team regularly perform and was even able to accompany members of the team to meetings and site visits.
This summer scheme was my first insight into property and my team provided me with considerable guidance, enhancing my understanding of the property market and specifically, the business space management department.
I am embarking on an MSc Real Estate course at Reading University in October so the knowledge I have accumulated over the last 4 weeks has been of incredible value and will stand me in good stead for my future studies along with my career in property.
The Company
From start to finish, the insight was well managed by the HR department who provided us with a steady stream of departmental overviews, covering every aspect of the commercial side of the business. They also provided us with a comprehensive schedule of networking events and the summer scheme project which included a presentation and a 500 word report.
Working in the city office, I received the impression right from the beginning that Savills is a vibrant and happy place to work. The genuine friendships and camaraderie between colleagues was immediately obvious and the positivity of the workplace is clearly reflected in the success of the business as a whole.
I felt that the firm invested in me from the very first day, providing me with a plethora of tasks to undertake. I also feel that my team went out of their way to ensure that I completely understood the task at hand and the various systems and networks available to Savills staff which has in turn enabled me to develop my understanding of the commercial property sector.
My team provided me with meaningful tasks from throughout the scheme and did not treat me as merely an 'intern' but a full member of the team. This provided me with an accurate insight into what it would be like to permanently work at Savills which was extremely useful.
I feel that I now have a far more developed and enhanced perception of company culture at Savills. This was received through observing the dynamics between individual staff members and different teams which immediately made me realize that the culture of Savills is centred around hard work, friendship and encouraged innovation.
I decided that I wanted to go into property about a year ago and working at Savills has made that desire even stronger.
Everything Else
I received full payment for my 4 week internship.
There were a number of networking events arranged over the 4 week period, including frequent departmental overviews where you would meet members of other teams and gain an insight into their departments. There were also networking drinks that were very insightful and facilitated the introduction to various employees of Savills, from graduates to directors.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the networking and social events put on by the HR team during my time at Savills.
I discovered a wide variety of activities that employees can get involved with. These notably include sporting teams such as cricket, squash and football. I also learnt that Savills staff receive frequent invitations to watch their peers participate in a number of sports.
Absolutely, I already have.
