The Role
The internship at SAP went above and beyond my expectations. I truly encourage applying here if you're looking to pursue a career in technology. The opportunities during your placement will allow you to develop your skills and grow as a person. It's also a great place to start your network
I felt very valued by my team. They never treated me as an intern. I was fully part of my team and was able to get to know my managers and the early talent community very well in my department even if it is a very big team. I was able to work with a lot of my colleagues.
My manager was fantastic. He always supported me in every project I undertook. We discussed skill development through training and set goals up for the year. I had regular one to ones to make sure I was staying on track with these set goals. I had other managers around me who were also a great support.
The different tasks required by my job were very broad. As a result of the variety of these different jobs I was constantly busy. This was great to learn how to prioritise. On a day to day basis I never felt bored thanks to the number of my teams assigning me projects.
I was given a lot of responsibility. I was able to go to loads of customer presentations. As a result, I was able to present to C-levels from very big corporations. This was great amount of responsibility. But other than this I also led my own projects and see them come to light.
I was able to feel a lot more confident completing my uni work I had been given during my placement year. It also helped me be a lot more organised and enable to complete my assignments way ahead of deadlines. None of the knowledge was relevant to my degree however.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was great. We had loads of socials organised by the UK team but then I also had some team gatherings. We were sat around our managers which allowed us to develop strong relationships with them and made the "not as good days" so much nicer.
The organisation of our internship could have been better but at the same time I was still able to receive loads of training in my specific role and I had a huge intern community around me which created a much better structure for my own internship. We had a few sessions organised specifically for interns.
The company massively invested in me through training and development. Mainly as a result of people's time commitment. You get assigned a buddy and I also had a mentor so had plenty of support. I also had a lot of presents and the company treats their employees very well through big socials which are great fun to attend.

The future employment prospects are good for my department. With a 6 month international opportunity full of training. But for other departments there is currently are lack of recurrent structure but hopefully this will soon actually change within the company. Teams do try and create opportunities for you to come back though.
The Culture
We had a huge intern community as we were 42 interns this year and this has only been increasing every year. This is absolutely great as you spend 2 weeks with them at the beginning during your onboarding. We also spent a lot of time together especially during thursday night drinks.
As I lived in Richmond the cost of living and socialising was very expensive but the office is based in Feltham which is not as bad in terms of costs. You get free lunches which is a huge help for the entire year. You also get a free membership to the gym.
The nightlife is good as Richmond is close but also Central London is only 30 mins away on the train. The bars in Richmond alongside the river were amazing and we often spent time there on thursday nights with the other interns. With my team we would end up going to London instead.
They weren't that many activities to get involved with outside of work. We have a football team which involves a world cup weekend in Germany with other market units in SAP. This is a great opportunity but at the same time they were many other activities to get involved outside of football.
