The Role
Really enjoyable experience. All the team really welcoming and I was given more responsibility than I thought I would get. Interesting to learn about a different side of the business and get to know the other interns. Lots of social activities arranged and talks on different departments which were very useful.
I was able to go to site visits and follow up on research afterwards which was interesting. Limited amount to what I could do though as I'm not qualified to do certain jobs. Feel I contributed to the team during my four weeks doing useful tasks so yes I did feel valued.
My mentor was very useful and gave me a lot of support. They were my main point of call and I did most of my work for them. They went through the intricate parts of the business and all the new terms which I haven't learnt yet which was helpful.
Most of the time I had something to be getting on with, although some tasks which took longer I would be working on for a few days. If I had finished a job I would take it as my responsibility to ask for more work so I was always doing something.
I was given more responsibility than I thought (I wasn't just making tea and coffee). I was able to go to site visits, do some research for reports and fill out important spreadsheets. There's a limited amount I could do though as I wasn't qualified to do the job fully.
The internship was definitely useful in allowing me to explore a different side of the business and how a team works. It will help me a lot going into my masters as i have learnt a lot about the more commercial side of the business which I hadn't had too much experience of before.
The Company
Hard working but also able to have a chat now and then. Relaxed.
Very well organised- lots of talks, lunches and socials planned which was really good to network and get to know the other interns. The project was also a good idea as we were encouraged to interview people from other departments in the business to find out about what they do which was a good opportunity.
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
Very expensive to go out for drinks and getting food out everyday was expensive so best to take a packed lunch.
They organised rounders and nights at the pub.
