The Role
All the projects I have been involved in have been very interesting, both industry and product-wise. Moreover, I have felt very lucky with regards to the people I have been working with, as by following the many tips and advice they have given me I have been able to learn and improve my skills.
I believe I have made a positive contribution to the team (in the scale I have been able to), lowering the workload of my other colleagues to the extent possible and trying to complete the tasks they assigned me as efficiently as possible. Through this I have been given more and more responsibility and have felt increasingly valued by my colleagues.
As said before, I have felt very lucky with regards to the people I have been working with, who have taken the time to teach and give me all sort of tips/advice, which has definitely helped me improve. Additionally, the program heads, HR and team staffers have all been very helpful throughout the internship.
Luckily, I was staffed on a live-deal on my first day and started off being very busy since the beginning of the internship, having the peak when it was closing. However, all the other interns in my team have been similarly busy, with the team having had several mandates at the same time.
Having previous experience in banking helped at the beginning, however, as expected responsibility at the beginning is limited (as a direct result of inexperience and not knowing your way around the programs that are used). As the days go by and you prove your skills/capabilities in the tasks you are assigned with you are given more and more responsibility.
Have not had the chance to test those skills in a classroom situation yet, however most of the skills developed through the program and training are very related to problem solving and analytical skills. Therefore, I believe they will surely be of much use in any future situation I might face.
The Company
I have felt a very good rapport with all of my team members and have aimed to adapt and contribute to their positive working atmosphere. Through this, I have mainly benefited, as I have received many tips and advice which have helped me face some of the tasks more effectively.
Very well organised, as it would be expected, for it has been running for several years and involves a great number of interns every year. Both HR and the people in charge of the internship organise and lead the program with a very serious approach and every activity in which we were involved was well organised.
An initial week of training with a professional training company and several full time company workers taking the time to teach all of the interns. After the week of training, all the available resources are made available to learn and develop the applicable skillset as much as possible during the internship.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, the program is thought to offer all the interns involved the chance to join the company after the internship, as there are enough spots for everyone. However, it is a very effort-based process in which one has to work hard to stand out in a short period of time.
