The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I have met so many amazing people and gotten the chance to go out on site to audits which i have really enjoyed. I have received lots of opportunities and been made to feel like a valued member of the firm i would recommend the internship to others.
from day 1 everyone has been so welcoming towards myself and the other interns. I have gotten on really well with the other interns and also with everyone else i have been working with which has really helped my experience here and made it more enjoyable. the people really stood out here.
everyone was very good at explaining the tasks i had to complete. whenever i had a question they would always take time to stop what they were doing and help me solve my issue without question. i was also always made aware that if i had any problems i could go to my manager with confidence
Most of the time i had plenty of jobs to complete and was kept busy. I was trusted with a lot of responsibility and talking to the client to complete my job. There were a couple of times when in the office that i had not enough tasks but this was a rare occasion
i was amazed at how much responsibility i was given during my time. I was trusted with speaking to the client finance team and also had the responsibility of my own sections in the audit. i loved the responsibility i was given as i didn't think i would be as hands on in my internship
many of the things i have learnt here have given me a greater understanding of audit and accountancy in general. i also came across a lot of things that i had learned at university but didn't fully understand at the time. this knowledge will help me in 4th year at uni with classes and writing my dissertation
The Company
the office was very relaxed and social. dress down on a Friday and dress for your diary made it a much more relaxed and comfortable working environment. everyone is very sociable and there is always someone about to talk to. overall i felt the office atmosphere was a very good working environment
on my first week i was not told what jobs i was on until the day before. this was a bit stressful as i couldn't plan what i was doing. there was also a couple of times where i was short on work. other than this everything was well organised
during my 6 weeks i had a trip to London and a trip to Bradenham. these involved training which i was surprised to receive so early on. when on audit jobs a lot of attention was paid to ensure i understood what i was doing and also that i was given a range of tasks
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
i was very keen to come back as a graduate in audit and i am thrilled to have received an offer. the internship gave me a true insight into what life would be like as a grad and this made me confident that i would like to work here next year.
The Culture
the other interns and i had a really tight bond and often went out for lunch or dinner together. we also spent a lot of time together in the office. there was also plenty of social events throughout the 6 weeks where i could spent more time with my colleagues and get to know them
i currently live in Glasgow so the cost of living and socialising was no different for myself. while some things can be expensive in Glasgow there are plenty of places to go if you are on a budget. overall i would say it is probably slightly cheaper than the rest of the UK
while i did not go out during my internship i have been out lots in Glasgow as i live here for university. Glasgow has such a range of places to go no matter what your preference or budget is which is really good. there is always a buzz around the city at night
on my first week i was invited along to the boat trip on loch Lomond . this was really enjoyable and i got to know my colleagues better. there were also other activities taking place such as Pride week (although i could not go to this due to personal commitments on that day)
