The Role
I really enjoyed the placement. The people were all lovely and happy to have me there. I felt like I was a help to the teams and developed a number of key skills.
I felt I could always ask questions whenever. My team was very supportive and would help me with any problems I incurred.
There were quite a few lulls in the day where I had limited work to be getting on with. The tasks set would never really take up the whole day and even when I asked for more to do I was only given short tasks that wouldn't take too long to complete. I would have preferred an ongoing task throughout the internship rather than little jobs here and there.
I conducted independent research that was key to forming the basis of initial research for projects.
The experience has definitely helped equip with me skills and training needed for grad jobs.
The Company
I was in a very small team but the office floor was very lively. It was a nice balance between formal and informal.
The placement was very well organised with events every week to mix with the other interns and learn more about the business.
There could have been more specific personal training on a one on one basis.
Company Parties/Events
I will be applying for a graduate job with Savills.
The Culture
All the interns got on well together. We organised our own lunches and evening events alongside those organised by HR. The culture at Savills is very much work hard, play hard.
I didn't live in London for the placement but other interns who did said it was very pricey for what they were earning. The office is situated in central London so prices will always be high for social events
What you would expect in London
There were two main company away day events that took place whilst on my placement. Almost everyone in the office went to one or the other. Not sure whether this was the month I was working, or if there are events like this throughout the year.
