The Role
I really, really enjoyed my internship here at Centrica. I have enjoyed all that I have been involved in and cannot say that there has been anything that I have not enjoyed. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and throughout and I would recommend it to anyone that is thinking of applying!
I felt fully valued by all members of my team here at the office. They value my opinion and the work that I produced during my placement and I would like to thanks them for this. It has allowed me to value them in return and also value what I can bring to team tasks.
I was given lots of support and guidance by my line manager when I needed it but was also given the independence to complete work on my own. The balance was perfectly struck where guidance is concerned and allowed me to learn lots of valuable skills throughout my time with Centrica.
I was busy on every day of my placement and always had work to be getting on with. There was always something to do or get involved with and this did not feel taxing, but instead fulfilling. Having something to do also made the days go quicker and more enjoyable for me.
I was given responsibility over my own work and was responsible for what was produced. This helped me to develop a sense of responsibility and ownership over my working day. I was responsible for completing work that is to be published within the official database and this responsibility has made me take my objectives seriously.
The skills I have developed within my placement will be hugely beneficial to me both back at University and within my working career. The training I have received has been invaluable and I would like to thank Centrica for allowing me these opportunities to develop my skillset. This will help me no end!
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was welcoming and positive and I felt like it was a great place to work. I am really glad that we were treated as colleagues from day one and never felt like a burden within office. The general atmosphere was productive and this increased my productivity too!
The internship was well organised and this was largely thanks to the work done by Lois to arrange lots of things. However, the organisation between head office and here could be improved to help interns who are not based in Windsor. For instance, we have had a couple of IT issues with our accounts.
I feel like the company has really invested in me during my time here. They have allowed us to attend professional training courses to benefit our personal development. This investment in me has made me realise my potential and how the company could also benefit from their investment and the improvement in my skills.

Future employment with Centrica would be amazing! I would love to be involved with Centrica in the future and further my career with them. If the opportunity to be employed by Centrica arose, I would be fully enthusiastic and proactive about this. They have appeared to me to be a great employer!
The Culture
There was a good social scene between my fellow interns and I. We were social both after work and at weekends. However, relationships with other employees were not as strong and this may have been down to the temporary nature of our employment. Had I been here longer this may have improved.
The accommodation costs were covered by Centrica and this was a great help to me! The cost of living and socialising was low as we were in a Northern location and this made doing fun things in our free time both affordable and regular. All in all, costs were low for us.
I have heard that the local nightlife is good but did not get to explore it as much as I would have liked. Restaurants and bars in the surrounding area were however nice, offering an environment to relax after work and over the weekends. There was always something to do and enjoy.
There were some opportunities to get involved in but not many. Therefore we arranged our own social activities and this brought us together as a group of interns. There was also a running club at the office and regular outings to lunch on a Friday that we were often invited to join and enjoy.
