The Role
Overall a good year for learning about how a pharmaceutical company operates!
I felt my well-being was very important to them but also felt my personal and professional development was not a priority.
My manager was always on hand to any questions I had.
My balance of work was very poor with some weeks being so quiet and boring but others being fast paced and exciting.
I was given more responsiblity at first than I was expecting but I feel as though as the year progressed this level of responsibility didn't match my increasing level of ability/ experience.
I learned valuable skills that will be transferrable to other jobs however I feel as though I haven't gained any specialist knowledge that will help me stand out as a future job candidate.
The Company
My team were very small and the majority of them either travelled a lot or worked from home so it was very quiet.
Very well organised but there could be more support offered to undergraduates throughout the placement.
At first I was put on several interesting and valuable training courses but as the year went on these opportunities dried up and I felt as though my development plateaued.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
International Travel
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Very few opportunities for graduates however further down the line I could see myself working at Pfizer in some capacity.
The Culture
There were so many other interns you never felt lonely!
Relatively expensive rent prices and since it's close to London all social activities were very expensive too.
Very little going on around Surrey so had to head all the way to London for some excitement.
Outside of intern social events there was nothing offered.
