The Role
I've had a brilliant time here at Cummins, part of that is due to the fantastic team of people who work at CTT Huddersfield,. This is also down to that the fact I have been lucky to have been given the opportunity to work on such an interesting & challenging project.
During my time here on placement I feel that I have been included in our team and also thought as a real member of the project team from the day I started, this really helped me settle into my role here at Cummins. I feel that I'm valued by my colleagues because they rely on me to carry out certain tasks and in doing so they appreciate the my contribution I make to the project.
I felt that my manager did an excellent job in gauging when support/guidance was needed and when it was suitable for me work through issues myself. Also on my placement If I needed any guidance all my supervisor's were approachable & receptive, they would work through any issues you may have in a constructive and informative manner.
Whilst on my placement year at Cummins I had the right amount of work load, I never felt like I was drowning in the abundance of work or that I was bored due to the lack of work. My managers was always checking that I was okay with the work load that I had on at any one time.
On my placement year at Cummins I was given lots of responsibility which meant leading tasks/projects which potentially could have had significant time & financial implications if the work wasn't managed properly. A major part of my role whilst on placement was managing contractors Health & Safety whilst they carried out various Facilities work, this is a huge responsibility because if the correct health & safety working procedure isn't followed it could have serious consequences.
I believe the skills I have gained & developed on my placement year at Cummins are invaluable. I've learnt skills that will not just help me with my studies at university but will stay with me through out my working career. Cummins have invested time & money into me by providing training such as IOSH, Asbestos Awareness & Arc Flash.
The Company
The atmosphere in our office was fantastic and I felt that I got to know my work colleagues really well, this made me really look forward to coming to work. I felt that we had a very professional working atmosphere but at the same time we enjoyed to have a laugh and a joke.
From starting at Cummins I feel like the whole process has been seamless, this has meant I didn't have to worry/panic about certain aspects of starting a new job. This placement has been really well organised and that all my questions where answered in the welcoming meeting and through leaflets/emails sent prior to me starting at Cummins.
I believe that Cummins have really invested in me during my time here, I have been involved in lots of training such as IOSH, Arc Flash & Asbestos Awareness training just to name a few. Everybody who I have approached has been more than happy to set aside time out of their busy schedules to help/assit me.

Whilst I have been working for Cummins I have seen lots of job opportunities being advertised within the organisation and I have seen how previous placement students have applying to come back after they have graduated. After my placement year here at CTT Huddersfield I'm extremely interested in any future employment opportunities within Cummins.
