The Role
I found the work interesting and the team of people lovely, however, I didn't feel as though there was a real plan for my time here and I didn't feel as though I really learnt all that much. I could have been pushed much more.
Everyone has been very kind and welcoming, however, I'm not sure what use I was to them. Often, I instead felt a burden.

Not very busy, I would have preferred to have more to do.
Very little. I was not made part of any real projects.
I definitely spent a fair bit of time going through textbooks and hence developed a significant amount of knowledge about substations that helped develop my understanding of previous modules further.
The Company
Relaxed, welcoming and friendly.
The placement was organised poorly, however, I could tell that the office and the normal work done there is organised well. Hence I was surprised.
The staff were always aware and caring of my wellbeing. I didn't feel, however, that my skills in the office were invested in.

I would be keen to remain working for Siemens, however, not necessarily within this department.
The Culture
There was another girl on the placement. She was lovely and we got on well at work. However, outside of work there was only one social event during my 3 months there. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make that event due to prior plans. Otherwise, as a very involved member of social societies at university, I would have been very keen to get to know everyone in the office much more.
All costs were fair and good. However, travel to my home town, London, was incredibly expensive. Siemens helped out there though and paid for two return journeys home. I was very grateful of that.
Given that I didn't have many friends here and most of my friends live far away an couldn't afford to come and visit me, I wasn't able to explore the nightlife half as much as I wanted to. It's meant to be fantastic in Newcastle though!
Not really, no.
