The Role
The actual job was quite boring but the other opportunities I got through this internship were incredible.
My colleagues were very welcoming and they treated me like a valuable member of the team.
My manager was great and really supportive.
It really depended by the end I was always really busy because I had taken over diary management of 3 directors but at the start it was quite slow and I felt like I was being a nuisance because I constantly asked for more work.
I was only given administrative responsibility.
Again, I only really developed general office skills. It wasn't as much of an insight into the civil service as I had hoped.
The Company
As it was summer it was quite quiet with different people going on leave all the time.
It seemed as though my department was unaware of what the internship was for and so I filled a role that was missing in the team and it wasn't really to make sure I learnt how the department works.
Again, it is difficult to say but I only gained basic office experience which I did need but I expected more in terms of training and development.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Depends on the fast stream tests/application process.
The Culture
London is expensive!
Good but again expensive.
Not really.
