The Role
Enjoyed it a lot. My manager made the experience amazing. So far I enjoy waking up and coming to work every day. The people you work with are great, whether that is another student, or colleague. There is a perfect balance of work at fun in and out of work.
At GSK, you feel valued and needed by your colleagues. I have only been working for 1 month out of the 12, but so far I feel valued. employees higher up the company respect your decisions and ideas and love input in meetings and day to day work. Like family.
Fantastic support. whenever I needed a question answered he would be there to help. Everyday i have worked so far i have never felt i could not ask my manager a question. All the managers i have met have come across approachable and kind, it could not be better. fantastic.
Not too busy, not bored, great balance. it pushes your limits and makes you a more efficient worker. So far in my placement i have had stuff to do, never a dull moment. So far my jobs have been based on how i have been getting on with my current job, so i don't have work pilling up.
The responsibility slowly rises with your confidence and capabilities. this really helps to progress you as a person. I have heard that by the end of the 12 months you are given complete responsibility to projects which is great for personal and professional development. Great opportunities at GSK! would recommend if you want responsibility.
I study business and management and my role at GSK is a research based marketing role. after worked in a real company on placement learning the ins and outs of marketing and research, it will help my role greatly. It will help me after uni as well when i start my first full time job.
The Company
The office is happy, lively place with a lot of buzz. Everyone is very kind and keen to get to know you. They are their to help you develop personally and professionally. A lot of effort goes in to make the office feel alive and friendly. Activities go on at lunch time and after work to make the atmosphere good.
SEAMLESS. extremely well organised. From the first application to your first day everything is prepared for you. Could not ask for a smoother transition. The great thing is that it makes you feel so at ease as you are not being rushed around in an unorganised fashion. Could not be better.
They invested a lot of time and effort for their IPs to develop on a personal level. They organise events to help you gain experience in areas you might not be familiar in. This is another seriously strong point for GSK, this links back to being valued, the really want to involve IPs.

Very, from what i have heard, they encourage all placement students to go for a grad scheme or a job right after university. I believe this is really strong point because the people they invest in are wanted after they finish university. The job roles available are very appealing to me and my fellow IPs.
The Culture
Yes, Events are being organised every week between students. If you wanted you could be involved in student social events ever week. There is not a dull moment and everyone is very social and willing to get to know knew people, it is highly recommenced here. It is a very good balance.
Right next to work is extremely cheap and a good social time. however, i personally lived more into London, meaning it costs a bit more, but on the other hand there are more pubs/clubs nearby meaning it is easier to go out on the weekends. West London is a great location to be.
So far it has been great. For me going to a pub is very enjoyable, there are pubs near by work and nearby my house. I could not ask for more. You can get to anywhere in London in a short period of time where i live so that is so great.
LOADS. There are endless opportunities from running charity events to playing football. If you have the driver you can organise almost anything to go on outside the office. Everyone that works here is very keen to get involved in after work activities. This is a strong point for GSK, endless opportunities.
