The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement as t has been really challenging, engaging and ultimately enjoyable. There is a real sense of teamwork and community at GSK that I have absolutely loved being a part of, and it has also been a great experience to be responsible for an entire project.
I feel really valued and they welcome any opinion or perspective that I have to offer. Furthermore, I feel working on a brand new project helped me feel like this as no one had previously been working in my area meaning people were more receptive to what I had to say.
The support here has been great, with my manager always making time to have regular catch-ups with me and to keep me on track. I did sometimes feel isolated as I was working on my own project but there were always people to ask for help and gain guidance from .
I feel that my workload varied during the day as often I would have a lot of meeting to attend that would generate a lot of work and take away the time to get work done. However, there were days when I didn't have many functions to attend allowing me to get on with more of my work.
I was given a great deal of responsibility, and trusted to start and work on a project that had not been done before at GSK.
I feel that I have gained a huge amount of personal skills from: prioritisation, presenting, time-management and general communication that will greatly assist me in my future career.
The Company
The general atmosphere was really friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful.
It was well organised with regular intern education sessions run alongside our day to day work.
They invested a lot of time and effort into us from: presentation workshops, formal training and generally lots of guidance and advice from employees all across the business.

Working from home
From working here I have generated a great enthusiasm to come back and work for the organisation. I found it extremely rewarding and challenging, whilst it also being really fun and enjoyable. I am passionate about what the company is trying to achieve and would love to be a part of it.
The Culture
There was a really nice group of interns on the placement with me and we often went for lunch and had regular catch-ups together.
I rented an airBnB for the extent of my placement so the cost of living was quite high, and in general I didn't socialise too much in the local area as it was quite sparse.
There wasn't a nightlife in my local area, if I wanted to go out I had to travel into the city.
There were not many aside from the company out of office days that I got to be a part of.
