    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was a great learning experience. From the first day, I was given tasks that were intellectually stimulating and enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I was doing work that would actually add value for my team. I was constantly guided through the process, which is why I never felt overwhelmed by the tasks at hand, but getting the opportunity to do real work was very satisfying.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked very closely with my manager during the entire internship. We would regularly sit together to discuss my work and get feedback. Other members on my team were very helpful as well.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were slower than others, but generally I always had something to do. The team was very accommodating as well, giving me work to do whenever I asked and understanding when I would need more time to refine a piece of work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for work that I had been assigned and the main project I worked on was largely an independent project, so while I did have responsibilities, I was not part held responsible for work that was crucial to the running of the team, which I believe is fair considering it would have been too much for an intern and would have hindered the learning experience.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work I did enabled me to contextualise the knowledge I had gained during my time at university. The internship gave me a solid foundation in asset management, which I can now further build upon.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere, while serious, was never intimidating and although everyone worked very hard, the atmosphere was quite friendly.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The intern sessions were well organised to make sure we got exposure to all areas of the business, while the main work itself was decided by our managers and therefore, there was more flexibility in that.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We regularly attended sessions that introduced us to different areas of the business. The intern socials were also great team building exercises.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • All the interns are assessed for the graduate scheme at the end of the internship.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns regularly went out together and get along really well. Colleagues other than the interns were outgoing and friendly as well.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Since the office is in the City, areas nearby were largely expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We regularly got emails about opportunities relating to social work. The company has also started an initiative on recycling and reducing plastic wastage, which anyone could get involved in.

    4/5
