The Role
I was looked after really well by my line manager. We sat down at the beginning of my internship, wrote some goals, and revisited them when I finished - I achieved them all! I was given plenty of work to do, plenty of visits and plenty of varied 1-1 meetings to talk about peoples' roles. I constantly felt to be well supported by the team I worked in, and the companies' internship system altogether.
Incredibly. Very often I was was asked to voice my insight as a student. This was in presentations, written documents and discussions. I regularly got positive feedback and thanks from my colleagues, and work I did was always acknowledged. I was invited to team-workshops not just to listen, but to contribute.
My line manager and I had at least weekly catch-ups discussing not only the work I was doing, but my general well-being and content with my internship. At the end of my placement we had a summary feedback call and I received a lengthy email to supplement this. I also received support from people above my line manager and knew there we other routes for support from the company.
Certainly busy enough to not be wasting my time, but not to busy to be exhausted. Work-hours were flexible and I never felt pressured to work beyond my limits. If I had have felt too busy, or not busy enough, I knew I could speak to someone. Further the company's systems made scheduling very easy.
I was given as much as I think my internship could be given, and it was enough for my work to be engaging without too much pressure. I didn't meet any other students who were given responsibility disproportionate to their placement. I certainly felt to be completely trusted by my manager and team.
I learnt so much from my internship! Most of all life-skills and career insight and advice. I've gained a fresh appreciation for the roles available to me if I graduate. And, I've new skills that I can add to my CV and unique and valuable experiences I can talk about in interviews too!
The Company
Office was setup so not too loud or too quiet. People were polite, they would always say hello, ask of my weekend and introduce themselves if we hadn't met before. Team meetings were informal. People never complained. Also a nice general consensus that the company is ethical, innovative and genuinely improves customer lives.
As best it could have been given my circumstances. I had a clear single person to report to. I received my buildings pass and laptop early. I had immediate internal access with my own student account. I receive plenty of information before I started on safety, time-sheets, health and wellbeing, etc.

It was clear from everyone I spoke to that the organisation offers a great quality of life. Flexible hours, development, work-life balance and great packages to name a few. The role I worked in would not suit me in the future, but I now know there are others in the organisation that would.
The Culture
London is expensive, I think that is just to be accepted. I was payed well and lived close to the office which helped, as too did my student discount. Worst for me was probably travel around and eating in London. Sometimes the company covered events which was nice. Cost was certainly not enough to outbalance the value of my placement.
