The Role
I felt like a value member of the L'Oreal Business Development Team here from day one and have gained amazing business practice insights and learning from this experience. Working for a top UK employer like L'Oreal who are Beauty market leaders worldwide gives you an insight into global market dynamics and fosters a lot of personal development within you to meet the required level of excellence they look for in their employees!
I felt welcome from day one and this was invaluable for my integration into the team. We were a part of a huge team of 100 other interns which creates an amazing community feel to the workplace with intern socials and sports to take part in with your colleagues. You'll find your team works just like a family and has socials and events such as fortnightly wine club for instance.
My line manager was fantastic at supporting my development but the emphasis is placed on minimal guidance and you learning how to tackle problems on your own initiative and seek excellence in your work. Every project I worked had dedicated support from an experienced member of the team until they felt i could handle it on my own.
This is down to your own time management and also how much you take on! As I was only there for 10 weeks I was keen to totally immerse myself in work and would often have a full calendar most days but the idea is to work hard not smart.
This is another amazing thing about L'Oreal you aren't so much an intern as a employee! I worked on projects and contributed pieces of work that were then delivered to external clients and to senior executives within the business! This is another area where you define your responsibility and if you dedicate time and effort into your work you will be rewarded.
Developing my time management and ensuring excellence in my work even under high pressure are both invaluable life skills that will definitely be an asset in whatever I go into next! Working with expert professionals gives you amazing role models to aspire to match their level of work one day and is an incredible experience.
The Company
It's an inspiring place with a lively air of fast paced innovation and entrepreneurship. The people who work here are very passionate about the L'Oreal vision and genuinely want to be here day in day out which creates a fantastic working environment! The office facilities are lovely with a great canteen and dining area to meet colleagues and relax or meet for an informal meeting over a coffee!
They have a long history of a large intern intake every year and the training set up and ongoing support is fantastic! I felt that there always going to be some issues however these were well dealt with and overall I was very impressed with the quality of the experience.
I felt like they were genuinely interested in investing in your development as many of their graduate roles are filled by previous interns and they train and retain as much of the young talent as possible. The experience is mutually beneficial as I got skill development and hope to work with them afterwards

There's amazing opportunities available for interns who shine during their placements and again it's up to you to nurture those opportunities! They make you aware of the process and advise you on how to make a good application. As well as a Graduate Scheme they also offer Talent Track where you can apply directly for an entry level role in an area of the business you excel in!
The Culture
Really lively atmosphere with so many of us working at L'Oreal and there was usually a couple of events per week whether that's sports or more informal socials! I made amazing friends within this environment as everyone feels as if they are contributing to the same cause! As well being at the Headquarters in Hammersmith, London means that there are always great opportunities for socials!
It was manageable because you are paid quite well but it is London after all
London is awesome for nightlife!
There is a huge focus on Corporate Social Responsibility work at L'Oreal and there's so many amazing opportunities to get involved with!
