The Role
Had a really great time, lots of fun and smart people, lots of opportunity to get exposures to a wide range of areas, opportunity to do meaningful work.
I really got along with my project team, and my people manager (who monitors your progress across projects) was really nice too! The other interns and grads were good fun and good to chat to to learn from, definitely felt like part of the team!
Plenty of support - e.g. training sessions, one-on-one catch-ups to go through stuff.
About 25% of the time I was really busy, about 70% of the time I had work to do throughout the day but could comfortably come in/leave on time, and only about 5% of the time was I really at a loose end!
I was given a good amount of responsibility to suggest new ways of doing stuff, go away and complete stuff myself, and make contributions to client work.
In my degree I'll be doing lots of probability, statistics and financial maths and seeing the applications in real-world jobs has really given me the motivation to go back and learn more!
The Company
Really good working vibe, people are very friendly and always willing to help you learn, but everyone is focused on producing good work so don't just distract each other while working or waste time.
It worked really well, good communication throughout, quick getting back to us, residential training organised, welcomed on first day.
I really felt that the firm treated me like a full time employee in terms of training - we could attend any training sessions or do anything we were interested in, even if it wasn't relevant to the work we'd be doing.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Future employment prospects look really good - clear route to promotion and career development, don't feel like you'd be held back, seems very meritocratic which is ideal. Got offered the job after the internship.
The Culture
Really good, drinks usually 1-2 times a week, had lots of events.
Socialising - I would go off a £5 pint average, can't say much for anything else, food is same price as anywhere. Is just London prices. Rent isn't bad because we're in London Bridge you can live further out than working in say Farringdon - lots of people come from Bermondsey or Canada Water.
Can't comment much as I was commuting so didn't do much! But a good few bars that i did go to.
Not a huge amount that I was aware of but I was told they did exist, e.g. sports teams. Some other interns did volunteering. Can't comment much.
