Insight Day Review

I very much enjoyed the insight programme, as it provided an invaluable insight into what fund management actually is, and what the work truly involves. We were provided with talks from a variety of different employees within the company as well as a trading game, and a very useful session on interview hints and tips that explained the application process.

I was made to feel well valued. I was greeted with a warm welcome and the reception was very friendly. Though out the whole time here I felt as though I could easily talk to any member of staff if I needed help. It felt as though the staff actually wanted to be there to help everybody, instead of being forced to.

I was provided a good deal of support and guidance throughout the insight programme. During the Q&A session, I found the panellists were all very willing to answer the questions that the participants had. The employees that came down for the networking session were also extremely helpful in explaining the business to us.

The information and skills gained will benefit me in the future. The information I received about what fund managements do and how the industry is moving ahead will be extremely useful when applying for any future jobs or attending any assessment centres. Furthermore, the information will benefit me at upon my return to university.

The insight programme was very well structured and I found that the programme was very well organised, right through from the confirmation emails to the actual event. There was a good mixture of activities and networking events on the insight and all of the staff that attended the networking events were very engaging.

The general atmosphere during the insight programme was really great! I was immediately made to feel very welcomed and instantly put me at ease. The positive atmosphere between students allowed us to complete the trading simulation in a fun way whilst learning and getting full stuck in! Overall, really great atmosphere!

As this was only a 1 day event, there was no training on the insight day, although I would not have necessarily expected any. Throughout the day, however, the firm invested a great deal in my personal development. Each of the events and activities were aimed at our development. I feel that I was able to get a lot out of this insight day.

The insight provided a great understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role at M&G Investments. Each of the speakers spoke in-depth about their own experiences at the firm, as well as at other firms and how they compare. Employees were also very open about their experiences at the firm during networking sessions.

I got a good understanding of what the culture at the firm is like. Having listened to the lecturers talk about what it is like to work here, it is evident that there is a lot of investment in making sure employees are happy here and there is no evidence that suggests each employee is just a number.

The content was very useful. Before attending the insight day, I was uncertain of what I wanted to do in my career and what role I wanted to pursue. After speaking with many people during the day and hearing about their experiences, I was able to gain a much clearer idea of what I wanted to do, and has certainly made me consider M&G as a future employer.

I was not paid, however I was reimbursed expenses from the day.

There were lots of different opportunities to meet employees at M&G Investments. During the networking lunch, there were many employees there for us to talk to. We had the opportunity to network one on one or in small groups, which meant I was able to get a lot out of our conversations. I had the opportunity to meet a wide range of people, from recent graduates to managers.

I really enjoyed the networking and social event opportunities, with lots of interesting people for us to speak to.
