The Role
I loved my placement year! For the past year, I have been trained on eight physical property techniques, I've supported more than 20 projects and I have lead 10 projects. All of this has developed many of skills, including my communication, presentation and time managements skills. The placement also gave me a great insight into working in a pharmaceutical industry.
I felt like I was valued by my team to a great extent.
My manger was great in supporting me and guiding me throughout the ear. She especially helped to direct me towards good development opportunities. I was also assigned a mentor, It was very useful to have someone on hand to ask questions or get clarifications.
The placement got progressively more busy with time, which is due to the fact that I was more confident at work and I could take on more responsibilities. However, it was never expected from me to work over time, and taking breaks is very encouraged within the team.
I was responsible for few of the labs instruments, I lead projects and arranged meetings with customers. I also had the great opportunity to be responsible for developing a method for a new instrument that the had purchased.
To a great extent. I think time management, communication, presentation, and data analysis are the most valuable skills that I have developed over the year and that will definitely help me in university and when applying for graduate jobs.
