The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I was allowed to get a lot of exposure to all different areas of work.
The division I worked in (IIDA) was amazing. The colleagues were very welcoming and approachable. I could ask anyone for help when I needed it. The best part is that it went both ways - I was asked to help some of my colleagues with their project, even though I was only an intern.
The support I received was perfect. Throughout the experience at MS I gained more and more responsibility, which is exactly what you need. The first couple of weeks, you're guided by your manager and he is there whenever you need him. By the end, I wouldn't need much guidance, but it was nice to know that it was there if needed.
The work varies every day - this is what I enjoyed the most. I worked on many different cases and was even able to accompany a manager out of the office for a few days.
You get as much responsibility as you want.
Can't ask for a better experience. It has really helped me develop as a person - I have become much more independent and aware of what waits for me after Uni.
The Company
Depends on the days - most of the time it is quite relaxed. You have your own hot desk and there are things going on all around you. There's always an opportunity for a quick chat in-between work.
The internship ran very smoothly. I arrived, a badge was given to me, a tour around the office was provided and I met everyone on the first day (then I forgot their names). Throughout the internship you meet new people every day and get to work with a lot of them.
The amount of new things you learn is unreal. The company invests a lot of time in you and this makes you feel important and valued.
Subsidised/Company Gym
I am in a funny situation, I still have a couple more years at Uni. However I am welcome to ask for another internship in the future and have been encouraged to apply for a graduate role once I have finish Uni.
The Culture
The department is very friendly and I get along with everyone. I am still in contact with a few of them actually. There are socials once a month and we occasionally go out for a drink at the end of the day.
Well.. it's London, so it isn't cheap. But it's worth it.
Again.. it's London: Amazing nightlife and a lot to do.
If you're the type of person who is actively looking for things to do then you'll find pretty much anything.
