The Role
During my year I worked within Vehicle Personalisation Finance (product development really). I got a lot more responsibility with my role than I thought I would, and was given space to develop my skills and support where necessary.
I had to work with a lot of different departments from Marketing to Engineering. Sometimes I was breaking bad news, so the conversations were not always easy. However, I always felt valued and respected. No one viewed me any differently as an Undergrad.
I was part of a relatively small team. Whenever I had a query I could ask and always get a helpful answer. I feel I have picked up a lot from the technical side of things through asking questions too. If there was ever an opportunity for training, I could happily attend and it was never an issue.
Very busy! But I enjoyed this, the days were always interesting, different and seemed to go very quickly.
I was given a lot of responsibility. My team contributed a lot to strategic decisions and my input was always trusted and valued. There are a few times throughout the year that really stand out where my input changed people's mind regarding a way forward.
Throughout the year I developed a lot of skills, both specific to the role and transferable skills. I spent a lot of time working with Excel, so learned a lot on there. I also had the opportunity to develop my communication and time management skills.
The Company
Everyone in the office know everyone else's name and it's a very friendly, yet professional environment to work.
We have had communications from HR throughout, and there were organised induction days as well as a round off day at the end.
No matter what training I required the company has happy to help. JLR also offer a Employee Learning Scheme where you can choose an activity to learn (up to £200 cost) and JLR will pay - I chose 4x4 driving!
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
The graduate scheme is based of your manager's feedback - so as long as you've performed well and there is the budget for the Grad roles, the prospects are great!
The Culture
I made plenty of friends through my time here, both Undergrads, grads and apprentices (the 3 scheme's JLR offer)
I chose to live on my own so rent may have been a little more, but still doable. There was arrangements between other undergrads to live together which will help!
Personally I did not go out that much - however, the options were there!
Plenty!
