The Role
I enjoyed the placement year a lot. It was good to be able to put the knowledge I had learnt at University to practice whilst also developing soft skills.
My colleagues were always happy and were keen to learn to listen to my opinions as a fresh set of eyes.
Some manager were very helpful, keen on developing my skills and giving me important projects to lead. Others were not so helpful and sometimes ignored opinions I gave them.
Lots of projects to lead. Leading workshops for Total preventative maintenance with operators whilst also leading and completing individual projects and team projects to improve machine output and quality.
Worked on important projects for the site. Which had a significant impact to site metrics. Day to day responsibility for following up actions and ensuring projects were on plan working in multi functional teams.
The skills I developed and training helped me put real life scenarios to my degree studies, giving me case studies to use in reports and examples where tools I had been taught could be sued effectively.
The Company
The office had a generally good atmosphere with most people happy to help and make sure everything is going ok.
The impalement was well organised in that I was given an important role with responsibility and deliverable targets to meet.
Allowed to be involved in a shinjigutsu Kaizen which was a good learning experience for me.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I have accepted a job on the Operational Leadership Program at Pall due to the positive experience I had working at the company on my placement year.
The Culture
No other placement students were at the site. However the weekly company football was a good way to meet people and make friends.
Site was close to parents so lived with them, keeping cost of living cheap.
Good nightlife.
Football, Parties, nights out and meals.
