The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed the internship and couldn't have asked for a better experience and introduction into the banking industry. I had so much exposure to so many different areas which I found invaluable when I knew very little about the industry prior to starting. The opportunities provided are vast, which is what has made it so enjoyable.
My whole team as well as everyone I have met across the bank are so welcoming and friendly. They are willing to help and answer any questions I may have. I am praised for having done something well and receive constructive criticism for anything I can improve on and I can actively see how I am contributing to the success of my team.
My line manager always has time for me even in their busy schedule! People will always make time for you. If you're proactive in seeking feedback and guidance people will be more than happy to sit with you. Never be afraid to ask questions. The mid-term evaluation provides useful feedback, enabling you to identify any areas you need to focus on.
Throughout the internship my workload increased, which I enjoyed as it forced me to use my initiative and be more organized. What I liked most is that despite being busy, no two working days are the same. I am always meeting new people and being involved in new projects which keeps it fresh and exciting.
My responsibility increased throughout the internship which was rewarding as I was able to see how myself grow accordingly. I became more confident in arranging meetings and reaching out to appropriate people myself, which made me feel a more valued member of my team and also increased my knowledge of how different areas of the bank work together.
I have graduated already with a maths degree but I can see that if I was returning for my final year, the problem solving and analysis skills that you develop on your internship would be invaluable. Completing tasks in a timely manner and conducting presentations in front of an audience would prepare you for undertaking a dissertation project.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable in approaching anyone with any questions I had or ask for clarification regarding a particular task. Teamwork and collaboration were shown to be vital in being successful at achieving an outcome, which is something I have begun to implement within my own working.
I cannot fault the internship programme. It was very organized but also allowed me to take the initiative in meeting new people to expand my network. I was never left with nothing to do. The variety tasks I was assigned kept me busy and gave me a wide understanding of all the assessments and documents my team produces.
Through the internship I have developed an inquiring mind-set. I have begun challenging the status quo and existing processes to develop new ideas, which is a transferable skill I can take with me to any organization. I feel confident in meeting new people to expand my network and exposure to all areas.

I really hope I get the grad scheme! The culture here is amazing which encourages me to do the best that I can for UBS in all of my work. I want to develop and maintain the skills that I have developed so far on the internship and ensure that they remain up to date, allowing my skills to thrive.
The Culture
Socials were held on a regular basis and the proximity of the UBS 5 Broadgate building to The Circle means UBS has a good social scene. You meet interns from all over the investment bank in your first week and you remain friends thereafter, even if they are not in your area.
As it is London, it is quite expensive. However, UBS do provide a housing allowance for during your stay and you are also paid, which covers living expenses and any activities you may undertake. It is an exciting opportunity to live in London and how much you spend is up to you.
The nightlife was really good and as it is so easy to travel across London you can go out anywhere! There is never a dull moment and there is something for everyone. You will make friends with many of the other interns and arrange to meet up and go out together.
As London is such a happening place, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of UBS. There is something for everyone! Whatever you are interested in you will find something to suit you. This is definitely one of the perks of working here at UBS. There is never a dull moment!
