About You
I found the Vacation Scheme at Hogan Lovells to be very enjoyable. The Recruitment Team and staff at the firm were extremely welcoming, ensuring that they took the time to share their experiences with us and involving us in interesting and meaningful work. There was a good balance between formal presentations and workshops and I throughly enjoyed my time spent at the firm!
I was made to feel very well valued during my time at the firm. I was treated with the upmost respect and treated as an employee of the firm. I had the opportunity to become involved with meaningful work, which was appreciated by my team. I was integrated into the tasks that my manager and others were working on and always informed of how my work had assisted the lawyers.
I felt well supported throughout the vacation scheme at Hogan Lovells. I had the opportunity to ask questions when I wasn't sure on the activity or work I was meant to do and the supervisors/departments were very happy to spend time to explain in detail the task as well as very kindly providing background information to their work.
The skills that I developed and the information that I learnt will certainly help me in the near future. Most significantly, my communication skills and confidence were strengthened during the course of the vacation scheme, due to tasks such as having to pitch a presentation to senior lawyers at the firm.
The Company
The vacation scheme was very well structured, filled with interesting activities and meaningful project work. We were given a full timetable of all that we were joining to be doing at the start of the programme. I found it particularly beneficial that we got to sit in three different departments, providing a great insight into different areas of the firm.
There was a really good general atmosphere at Hogan Lovells! The intern cohort all bonded quickly and we organised social events outside of those organised by the firm. Everybody at the firm was very welcoming and helpful and there seemed to be a very positive vibe about the office even during very busy periods.
Hogan Lovell certainly invested in us to a good extent on this vacation scheme. The first several days of the scheme consisted of induction sessions, training and ice breaker activities. We also had a number of networking events to allow us to get to know each other in a more casual setting.
This vacation scheme was great for understanding what it would be like to have a full time role. As a vacation scheme student, I was treated very much like a graduate trainee in terms of the work I was completing and therefore this gave a good indication of what it would be like to have a full time role.
This vacation scheme helped me to better understand the supportive and open culture at Hogan Lovell. Arguably there is no better way to understand the culture of a firm then to actually work at the firm and spending two weeks there certainly gave me a better understanding. It is evident that Hogan Lovell is a firm that values a friendly and welcoming manner, and actively encourages its staff to network.
Very valuable! The range of tasks I had the opportunity to become involved in was invaluable in reinforcing my intention to pursue a career in commercial law. The various practice group presentations were highly interactive so helped me to get a better feel for which department within the firm would be best suited to my skills.
Everything Else
I was paid very generously for my time spent on the Hogan Lovell vacation scheme.
There were numerous opportunities for networking throughout the vacation scheme. This included the opportunity to network with senior partners, which was great exposure so early on in my career! These networking events took a variety of different forms, ranging from dinners, drinks events, escape the room evenings, it was a great mixture of events!
The networking events and social opportunities were really great and allowed us to interact with a variety of Hogan Lovell employees!
Yes, there are a variety of different activities for Hogan Lovell employees to get involved in, ranging from Pro Bono volunteering to sporting teams.
Yes, I would absolutely recommend this vacation scheme at Hogan Lovell to a friend!
