The Role
Treated like an employee. Opinions listened to by seniors. People always made time to sit or go for a coffee. Included in morning meetings, client calls and desk social events by default.
All employees were always willing to make time to sit down for both work-specific and more general support
There is always something to do. If workload was lower than normal then best to go around and ask if there's anything you can do for people.
As much as I asked for!
Developed advanced Excel sheets and scripts. Wrote reports for investors. Experience operating in a competitive and professional business environment. All essential skills for academic and professional life.
The Company
Far exceeded expectations. A serious amount of investment from the business had clearly gone into the Intern Class. The entire of the first week was training in classrooms with a 3rd-party provider week 1. But it didn't stop there - we were given an afternoon's training on the terminals at Bloomberg's offices. There were extensive mentorship programmes offered to us from senior employees. Regular business and social events for the interns, from product seminars to barbecues and even a White Water Rafting outing!
Far beyond expectation. BAML obviously values its new talent pipeline, and serious investment is made into our future with the firm.

Very much so.
The Culture
People generally working hard during the week but you can always find a few up for a drink in Paternoster Square after work. On the weekend other interns are always keen to head out to the clubs and you can get a good group going.
Central London costs are always going to be high compared with university, but not restrictive.
It's London!
Asides from the endless company sports clubs on offer, there were many intern events such as barbecues, art gallery visits, team activities and drinks on the night of the world cup.
