The Role
It was a good learning experience, had a good work / life balance , felt like I was challenged and improved on my existing skills . Some things could be improved though , as I felt like there were periods of time where my time could have been better used doing a different task.
Everyone was really friendly and patient with the interns while we were new and dedicated some time to us to teach us what we needed for the internship . The other interns were really friendly as well , and since we were closer in age , it was easier to interact with them.
Had a great supervisor , guided us in the right direction to accomplish our tasks , was patient and treated us like a member of the team . The supervisor gave us feedback and suggestions as we went along , so that we could improve on our weaker areas .
In the begginning I was not too busy as I could not start working until I had all the tools I needed , but after the balance was good . There were a lot of meetings that were not neccesary for the job buy they gave us a better overview of the systems that exist.
We were tasked with a project that was linked with projects from the real team but could not affect the real team in any negative way . In terms of responsability for our project we had almost free reign in our choices , but we were a got guided by more senior people.
Learned how a real work environement is , and what are the best practices in terms for hard skills and soft skills . Since we were exposed to a real work environement we had the opportunity to see how it difers from whar our university shows us and how to use the information from university in a practical manner.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxes , as in not stressful unless an incident occured , and it needed to be fixed as soon as possible . Work hours were somewhat flexible , no one checked how much you stayed in or when you left and working from home was an option for those interested.
It was organized well . It started with a few days of induction and traiming that helped us understand the environement we worked in , and once we started working there were some intern events that would teach us things relevent to the job or for personal developement. It was also split in half and at the end of each half there was a review.
They invested in training , and the full time employees invested time in us . They also paid for our transport and accomodation during the training period and paid for the transport of certain employees to come here just so they could teach us , or help us with our proffesional or personal developement.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
The future prospects for the company seem pretty good , they are opening a new campus , which mean that a lot of new jobs are going , to be created , which mean that there are going to be more opportunities for proffessional developement and they want to promote company growth from within as well.
The Culture
We , the interns , became friends somewhat quickly , probably since we had similar interests and a similar age , and we organized events among ourselves inside and outside work , including social events , or volunteering events . I believe some of us are going to remain friends after the intership is over .
Pretty cheap compared to London.
I am not a fan of the nightlife in the UK , the nightlife in London is better , but more expensive.
There were enough opportunities.
