The Role
Was a great time. Everyone I worked with was friendly and approachable. Was treated like an employee not just an intern.
Got assigned meaningful work a lot and was expected to contribute in meetings, as opposed to sit there and listen. Felt respected.
You get a ‘buddy’ and a line manager on the internship. It’s a good set up. In my case both sort of operated like a buddy and a manager and I got work from both , however both would regularly meet me and ask how it’s going.
I think I was reasonably busy - I got on with work and tried to take on extra tasks when possible.
I was often expected to prepare events/meetings and coordinate with people who may have had no idea I was an intern. I even went to meetings 1 on 1 with people without my line manager/buddy and was expected to relay information and make progress on projects with senior employees
Have just graduated so no help on the degree studies! However it’s been a great chance to develop my knowledge of financial markets, financial services in general and also organisation of time and prioritising work.
The Company
Great - everyone was very nice to each other and there was no tension I was aware of.
Good set up - could have more intern socials organised during the internship as opposed to just the end, however there’s a lot of great things they do (senior leader breakfasts, grad recruitment catch ups etc.).
I feel like I have been invested in a lot. It’s great to see they genuinely want to succeed and offer you the graduate offer.

Great - good pay ( I think, yet to find out if I get the offer or not ) for someone my age, and growing business.
The Culture
There was regular drinks held amongst interns, and there’s a big blow out organised by the firm at the end for all of us. I also had a summer party which was fun but that was with my floor.
I lived at home (pints were expensive though).
Unsure; yet to go clubbing (am tomorrow).
Playing rugby for Barclays whilst I’m here, lots of sports clubs to join though!
